POWERADE RUN BARBADOS JOINS FIGHT AGAINST DIABETESPublication Date: 10/24/2008
(BRIDGETOWN, Barbados, October 24, 2008) -- The Run Barbados Committee will be playing its part in the fight against diabetes during November, which is effectively Diabetes Awareness Month.
The Committee will make a special donation to the Diabetes Foundation from the proceeds of the Go Ahead! 7K Warm Up, which takes place on Sunday November 9, 2008 at 4:30 p.m.
This move has also been fully embraced by the event’s sponsor, Go Ahead!, whose healthy fruit bar snack also proves a good fit for this new health-conscious Run Barbados event.
With regular exercise being identified as one of the key ways to prevent diabetes and other lifestyle-induced diseases, the Run Barbados Committee has also engaged the services of some of the island’s top fitness experts to conduct warm-up sessions during the event.
GET UP AND GO AHEAD!
Sunday November 9, 2008 at 4:30 p.m.
Spectators and anyone eager to lose weight, keep happy, enjoy time with friends and family or just gain the motivation to start exercising are invited to come out dressed to exercise at the Bay Street Esplanade from as early as 4:15 p.m. as these professional trainers will be on hand to take them through their paces.
The committee is also insisting that all Go Ahead! 7K competitors register at the Barbados Tourism Authority (Chattel House) from 1:00 – 7:00 p.m. on Thursday November 6 and Friday November 7, as there will be no same-day registration.
All finishers in the Go Ahead! 7K Warm Up will be given a certificate of accomplishment, while top finishers in the male, female and parish categories will be awarded special prizes.
